As a once psychology major and a degree in child development, my methodology for dog training is similar to raising children. You want open communications and consistent boundaries. I once came from only positive reinforcement background until I learned no two dogs are the same and that sometimes tools are necessary to achieve certain goals. I do teach my students that like all tools, they should be used properly and only enhance the training and relationship.
